03/2009CODIXX is introducing next generation of colorPol® MIR
Press Release 03/2009
In 2008 for the first time CODIXX presented a glass-polarizer which has been developed especially for the mid infrared range – the colorPol® MIR. Until today the unique colorPol® MIR polarizer is worlwide the only wideband and easy to apply polarizing filter for the mid-infrared.
With the steady raise of applications in the MIR range like matter analysis, spectroscopy or thermography, the polarizer is thrusted into the spotlight.
The next generation of the successful colorPol® MIR provides excellent features to meet the demands. The polarizer now has an extended spectral bandwith of almost 4 µm. It comes with a high extinction ratio of above 10,000 : 1 (40dB) within 1.5 µm ‑ 5.0 µm (wavenumbers 6,666 cm‑1 ‑ 2,000 cm‑1) and above 1,000 : 1 (30dB) within 1.2 µm ‑ 5.0 µm (in wavenumbers 8,333 cm‑1 ‑ 2,000 cm‑1). The outstanding acceptance angle range exceeds ±20 °DEG. Transmittance properties up to 90% underline the entitlement to a high performance polarizer.
Based on the unique colorPol® technology for doping of sodium silicate glass with prolate silver nanoparticles, all colorPol® polarizers provide high temperature stability up to + 400° C, resistance against rough environmental influences, against the most chemicals, UV radiation and bleaching as well as the ease applicability to name a few. Dimensions ranging from 1 x 1 mm² up to 100 x 50 mm² and different shapes are available. In addition, the filter is offered in standard versions with diameters of 12.5 mm, 25.0 mm as well as 0.5 inches and 1 inches, respectively.
CODIXX is a manufacturer of optical polarizers for the infrared, the visible and ultraviolet spectral range. On the cutting edge of nanotechnology, its leading role is a result of steady development since it was founded in 1998.

CODIXX's colorPol® HT polarizer family
Press Release 02/2009
Since the market launch of the first colorPol® HT polarizers in 2004 this special colorPol® polarizer family is making a successful history. Designed for the demanding requirements of the telecommunication industry CODIXX's colorPol® HT polarizers offer best values in transmittance and extinction ratio. All polarizers of the HT family are now available in the standard dimensions of 11x11 mm², which come packed in waffle packs. This is now standard for for small quantities too.
Based on the unique colorPol® technology for doping of sodium silicate glass with prolate silver nanoparticles all colorPol® polarizers provide high temperature stability up to + 400° C, resistance against rough environmental influences, against the most chemicals, UV radiation and bleaching as well as the ease applicability to name a few and complies with RoHS.
The colorPol® HT polarizers fulfill the Telecordia standard and withstand for example the damp heat test over 2000 hours with a temperature of 95° Celsius and 95% relative humidity without any degradations of the performance. This test was applied to the uncoated raw polarizers as well as to the AR coated polarizers.
HT stands for High Transmittance. Within the range of 1,200 until 2,500 nm colorPol® HT polarizers feature extinction ratios > 10,000 : 1 and insertion losses less than 0.1 dB (transmittance > 98%) applying an AR coating.
Due to the base material of sodium silicate glass colorPol® polarizers can be processed like silicon wafers in various shapes and dimensions. Beside the standard sizes, CODIXX offers its colorPol® HT polarizers in customized sizes too, e.g. 75x50mm² or 25x25mm²
For OEM quantities CODIXX ship the colorPol® HT polarizers in dimension matched waffle packs to ensure the quality of the 100% inspected colorPol® polarizers while the shipment.

colorPol® polarizers with new broadband AR (anti-reflection) - coating
Press Release 01/2009
CODIXX extends its assortment of standard AR (anti-reflection) - coatings for colorPol® polarizers.
The request for high end IR polarizers has been growing in the last years. For many IR applications high transmittance over a wide wavelength range is a central demand. While colorPol® polarizers feature a transmittance up to 91% (uncoated) in the IR range, the new wide band AR coating extents the transmittance to outstanding 95%-98% over the wavelength range of 1,200-2,500 nm.
This new coating completes the present standard AR (Anti Reflection) coating portfolio:
CW01 broadband coating 450 – 750 nm CW02 broadband coating 600 – 1200 nm CW03 broadband coating 550 – 850 nm
C355 V-coating for 355 nm C633 V-coating for 633 nm C1310 V-coating for 1310 nm C1550 V-coating for 1550 nm
Because of the unique setup of the colorPol® polarizer, which is a thin glass plate with embedded silver nano particles, any coating can be applied to all polarizers of the colorPol® line. Even with coating the colorPol® polarizer can be processed like glass or semiconductor wafers. It is resistant to UV radiation, solvents and most acids and bases and complies with RoHS.
The unique CODIXX polarizer manufacturing capabilities opens the ability to produce patterned polarizers. These filters have variations of polarization for neighboring sub-sections within the cross-section of a single beam, producing either spatially or spectrally varying orientation of the polarization. Such patterned colorPol® polarizer can also include fully transparent or opaque regions.
Depending on the particular application, these polarizers are subject to specific requirements regarding spectral range, contrast ratio and transmittance, and additionally with regard to their geometrical form factor. At one extreme, the regional variation across the usable aperture of a polarizer can be down in the range of µm², while at the other extreme this may be as large as several cm². These parameters in turn define which pattern principle will be applied.
