Photonic components made in Germany - The new patterned colorPol^® S-Polarizers of CODIXX

The polarizer is an important component of the photonic industry. Mostly they are hidden inside our workaday equipment. The existence of this element is known to the user seldom. But without that the modern telecommunication as well as a large amount of optical sensors is unimaginably. Many different types of polarizer coexist. There are large and small, flat and cubic, crystal and foil polarizer. All the have one property conjointly: spectral characteristic just as direction of polarization is nearly the same for whole aperture.
But just in complex systems free shaped patterns with different directions of polarization at high contrast values are required. Up to now this demand was not satisfiable. For the first time CODIXX presents the colorPol^® S-polarizer to a larger public at the electronica 2002. The colorPol^® S-polarizer of CODIXX is the first polarizer with patterns of 2 or more directions of polarization. The shape and size of the patterns is freely, the resolution is 20µm. Neighboring areas with a different orientation of the polarization are feasible as well as wavelength of maximum polarization (color in the visible wavelength range) and non polarizing transparent or absorbing regions. The colorPol^® S-polarizer may be supplied in almost all shapes and sizes even for further processing by the customer. This new product of CODIXX opens up new vistas in the world of photonics.

The colorPol^® polarizer opens up new fields of application in the sectors of photonics, telecommunications and measuring technology.

The large display unit division was continually developed in the past. The availability of highly luminous semiconductor lightemitting diodes has led to today's massive international demand for freely programmable information boards, which are suitable for daylight use and can also be read from a considerable distance away.

Today the LED displays developed and produced by CODIXX in Magdeburg are widely used to communicate up-to-date information in a way which stirs the emotions. The fascination of watching animated words, graphics and pictures being transmitted, regardless of the time of day, demonstrates high tech at its best. Brilliant color reproduction and the high luminosity of the diodes, which allow for dynamic adjustment to changing light conditions, mean that many applications are now possible. Consequently, CODIXX LED large display units are currently used in industry, in traffic telematics, as menu boards, for advertising, and for displays in sports, office and banking environments. The modular structure of the boards opens up considerable possibilities; anything between 0.5 m² and 123 m² is currently available.
